Crematorium Supervisor - Belgroves Group of Companies





Office Gems is facilitating the recruitment of a CREMATORIUM SUPERVISOR for the Belgroves Group of Companies.

The position of Crematorium Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operation of all the Crematoriums across the Group. This includes allocation of manpower for optimum production, ensuring preventative maintenance is conducted on all retorts to ensure 0% downtime during operating hours.


In addition, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all consumables required for machine operation are in stock and the retort and cremation room are always cleaned, and the equipment is in a state of readiness.


All activities must be geared towards maintaining the highest level of service to both internal and external stakeholders and must conform to Internal Auditing standards and guidelines and to all legal, statutory, and regulatory requirements.


Principal Accountabilities

The Crematorium Supervisor will be responsible for:

  1. Creating and maintaining a preventative maintenance (PM) plan for ALL retorts, in consultation with the Group's Operations Manager, to ensure 0% operating downtime.
  2. Scheduling staff according to the branch cremation requirements.
  3. Managing overtime to a minimum agreed upon acceptable level
  4. Coordinating ALL contractors and service providers for repairs.
  5. Liaising with the Group's Service team to ensure that cremations are performed in a timely manner within the machine’s operating parameters.
  6. Ensuring the machines are operating within manufacturers' specified parameters.
  7. Scheduling and facilitating operator training in tandem with the HR Department.
  8. Ensuring the machines pass all Environmental Management Agency's (EMA's) emissions tests.
  9. Liaising with the Inventory and Purchasing departments to ensure all consumables and critical spares are kept in stock.
  10. Ensuring that all documents are completed and in order before cremation.


Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Academic/Technical Qualifications

  1. Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Diploma in Mechanical Electrical and Electronics, Instrumentation and Controls
  2. Technical certification in furnace repairs and maintenance would be considered an asset


Experience

  1. Three (3) years’ experience working on industrial furnaces
  2. Two (2) years’ experience working with electromechanical and PLC control systems
  3. Minimum of two (2) years' supervisory experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
  2. Excellent relationship building skills
  3. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  4. Strong knowledge of customer care processes and techniques.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
  6. Working knowledge of MS Office
  7. An honest and highly confident disposition.
