Operations Manager

Office Gems is facilitating the recruitment of an OPERATIONS MANAGER for the Belgroves Group of Companies.

The Belgroves Group of Companies is an organization with over 130 years of experience in the service industry. The Group consists of five service companies which include funeral service management, preplanning services, manufacturing, cemetery management and digital production.

 Belgroves Funeral Home Co. Limited owes its success to the efficiency of its organizational processes and people. To help maintain and grow these standards, they are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily operational activities.

 The ideal candidate for the Operations Manager position is open-minded, adaptable to change, a performance driven problem solver who thrives on responsibility and exceeding expectations and has a proven record of producing and exceeding results. Additionally, he/she will be able to maintain an environment of trust, diversity, and inclusion within the team.


This position will be based in San Fernando

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the Operations Manager include but are not limited to the following:

 

Effectively manage operations strategies to retain current customers and grow market share

  • Manage the day to day relationship with our key partners and stakeholders to ensure quality service delivery

  • Oversee operational systems, processes and infrastructure while identifying and exploiting improvement opportunities

  • Anticipate and track operational and tactical risks and provide strategic solutions

  • Manage the day to day business of the operations department while balancing the responsibilities of various business lines such as business analysis, vendor, and risk management

  • Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization’s internal capacity

  • Address operational concerns and issues, whilst monitoring overall customer satisfaction

  • Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices

  • Manage budgets and forecasts.

  • Ensure the achievement of organization’s Key Performance Indicators by providing inputs for the development of an annual budget, scheduling expenditure, analyzing, and reporting on variances and implementing corrective action

  • Manage timely data collection to update operations metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service

  • Identify trends and assess opportunities to enhance processes and improve operations.

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve operational policies and procedures.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols to manage performance standards.

  • Work closely with the management team to ensure all operational, administrative, and compliance functions are being properly executed in accordance with regulatory-based best practices.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies to stay up to date on industry regulations, trends, and technology.

 

Leadership and Management of Resources

  • Clearly define and communicate operations objectives to all members of the department

  • Lead the operations team including but not limited to training, coaching, planning, evaluating, rewarding, disciplining, and overseeing employee relations for the company

  • Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures

  • Conduct performance reviews of all direct reports, provide feedback and implement measures to improve performance

  • Foster a performance driven work environment by developing and implementing performance standards to enhance the effectiveness of each employee

  • Develop and enforce department SOPs for each work task or process

  • Develop and manage staff KPIs and conduct evaluations with the guidance of the Human Resource Department to ensure set objectives are consistently met by the team

  • Prepare monthly reports on the operations of the company based on set KPIs

  • Develop and execute strategic operation plans for the company

  • Provide a motivating work environment to support the team and other departments where necessary

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or Operations Management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Management
  • Professional Certification in Operations Management
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite (word, excel, power point)
  • Certificate in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSS) or certificate in Process Management will be an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ proven experience in an Operations Management position
  • Must have at least 10 years’ experience in a managerial capacity, preferably in the retail industry.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Extensive experience in managing partner relationships
  • Strong understanding of customers and market dynamics and requirements
  • Proven leadership ability to manage and lead a team
  • Strong Project Management experience
  • Strong Financial Management experience
  • Excellent Time Management, Customer Service skills and analytical skills
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in MS suite
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to operate independently and as part of a team while managing several responsibilities
