Member Services Representative - CCCU (CUREPE)





Office Gems is facilitating the recruitment of a MEMBER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE for Community Care Credit Union’s CUREPE Branch.


This will be a 1-year Contract position.


The main role of the Member Services Representative is to assist the Credit Union’s members with their financial needs and transactions and resolving member issues within their authority. You assist members and inform them regarding the Credit Union’s products and services in person, via phone, and through the mail.


The role also includes contributing to the efficient, effective, and confidential day-to-day operations of the Credit Union and supporting the work of Management, Staff and the Board of Directors.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The specific responsibilities of the Member Services Representative, include, but are not limited to:

  1. Greeting and welcoming members in a courteous, professional and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate and efficient member transactions.
  2. Processing a variety of member transactions involving deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, loans, etc
  3. Verifying transactions, monitoring deposit amounts and examining documents for endorsement and negotiability.
  4. Promptly detecting and resolving discrepancies.
  5. Entering deposits into computer records.
  6. Assisting with mail or email transactions as needed.
  7. Ensuring security of Teller work station.
  8. Balancing cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts to computer generated balance sheet. Identify transaction mistakes when debits and credits do not balance. Researching and resolving discrepancies. Reporting any discrepancy to the supervisor as necessary.
  9. Complying with all aspects of the Financial Intelligence Act of 2009, Financial Obligations Regulations (2010) and Financial Obligations (Amendment) Regulations (2014) to help detect and prevent money laundering, including but not limited to submitting Source of Funds form for cash transactions over $10,000, reporting suspicious activity to Compliance Officer using appropriate form, and adhering to all other requirements mandated by the FIU and the Credit Union’s Compliance Policy.
  10. Ensuring appropriate records / logs are maintained and required reports are prepared.
  11. Abiding by all applicable rules, regulations and Credit Union policies and procedures.
  12. Properly securing member/credit union information in accordance with Credit Union privacy and confidentiality policies.
  13. Ensuring work area is neat and safe to ensure information remains confidential.
  14. Troubleshooting and resolving customer and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner escalating member issues above their authority to supervisor or manager
  15. Performing a variety of miscellaneous tasks including filing, document scanning, and answering the telephone. Assisting with daily department functions when necessary


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. Minimum of five (5) CSEC/CXC/O’Level passes, including Mathematics, English Language and Principles of Accounts.
  2. CAPE passes will be an asset.
  3. A minimum of two (2) years' prior work experience.
  4. Previous work experience as a Teller or related occupation (Cashier, Billing Clerk) is desired.
  5. Proficient with computers and working with MS Office, especially Excel.
  6. Understanding of accounting processes, procedures and internal controls.
  7. Customer service skills.
  8. Knowledge of verification requirements for cheques.
  9. Ability to verify signatures and proper identification of customers.
  10. Thoroughness/Attention to Detail
  11. Strong organizational skills to be able to plan and prioritize workload
  12. Sound working knowledge of Credit Union Policies and Procedures will be an asset
  13. Knowledge and understanding all compliance regulations will be an asset.
