Production Floor Supervisor: The Belgroves Group of Companies (San Fernando)





Office Gems is facilitating the recruitment of a PRODUCTION FLOOR SUPERVISOR for the Belgroves Group of Companies, SAN FERNANDO Branch.

The Production Floor Supervisor is generally accountable for ensuring all workers in all departments are performing their functions according to the production order and at the prescribed standard of performance.


Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Performs quality checks on all Work in progress and finished goods to ensure that they are at the required standard of performance and rejects units that do not meet the standards.
  2. Reassigns resources to departments as needed to ensure work levels are kept at optimum levels in consultation with the Production Team Lead and the Production Coordinator.
  3. Ensures all departments requisition the required raw materials and consumables the day before the start of the workday to ensure there is no disruptions to the workflow.
  4. Brings to the attention of the Production Team Lead and Production Coordinator any shortages in raw material or consumables that would jeopardize the completion of the production plan.
  5. Addresses any employee’s concerns and brings to the attention of the Production Team Lead and Operations Manager any issues that can jeopardize the employees’ safety, pose a risk to the organization or jeopardize the completion of the production plan.
  6. Inspects all work performed to ensure that they meet the required standard of performance prior to completion.
  7. Maintains a minimum production level according to the production order.
  8. Ensures all tools, machinery and equipment used on a daily basis are cleaned by the relevant department.
  9. Secures all tools and materials prior to leaving the compound for lunch or for the day.
  10. Ensures all tools, machinery and equipment are in proper working order at all times.
  11. Performs basic preventative maintenance and reports any breakdowns to the Production Team Lead immediately.
  12. Ensures all Compressors and air lines are bled daily to prevent moisture build up.
  13. Performs Toolbox meetings before production starts on the first workday of each week.
  14. Ensures all staff use equipment in a safe and secure manner.
  15. Completes all timesheets, documentation and other required paperwork as it relates to the job function daily and submits to the Production Team Lead.
  16. Maintains a positive attitude to work and co-workers. Train new employees in the job function.
  17. Conducts himself in a safe and responsible manner at all times while on the compound in accordance with the Health, Safety and Environmental policies of the company.
  18. Uses the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) in the prescribed manner at all times while on duty.
  19. Ensures all workspaces are kept in a clean and sanitary manner at all times.
  20. Supports the development and maintenance of a team environment by performing other related duties.


Requirements

  1. Diploma in Production Management, Supervisory Management or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of four (4) A’ Level / CAPE Subjects
  3. Minimum, certificate in HSSE
  4. At least two (2) years of working experience in a production environment
  5. Knowledge of lumber processing and finishing
  6. Good mechanical skills.
  7. Ability to trouble shoot and develop solutions quickly and effectively
  8. Excellent interpersonal skills
  9. Ability to motivate staff, through non-financial techniques, to complete assigned tasks


Candidates must be able to work 6 days a week and in keeping with their assigned shifts.
