Project Coordinator - IDF





Office Gems is facilitating the recruitment of a PROJECT COORDINATOR - IDF for The East Port of Spain Development Company Limited.


The Project Coordinator plans and monitors the execution of assigned infrastructural projects and construction works to support compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements, the completion of the Annual Programme of work and the satisfaction of stakeholder needs.


The duties are to:

  1. Cultivate effective working relationships with company personnel, contractors, community members, and public officials.
  2. Support and participate in site visits, technical meetings, and stakeholder forums.
  3. Participate in data collection and verification to support planning, detailed definition of project specification and programming, and pre and post-execution evaluations.
  4. Prepare the justification, scope, schedule, and resource requirements for assigned projects, under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  5. Participate in Contractor Orientations and project briefings.
  6. Keep Contractors and relevant parties apprised of changes to scopes of work or schedule, as appropriate, to keep projects on track.
  7. Schedule and coordinate site visits and inspections to monitor the progress of assigned projects and ensure compliance with safety, security, regulatory, and other corporate requirements.
  8. Investigate and promptly notify Supervisor and other relevant personnel of work delays, disruptions, site incidents or accidents, and remedial actions taken or recommended.
  9. Evaluate potential problems and technical hitches to identify root causes and potential solutions.
  10. Track and report variances in a timely and accurate matter, to minimize delays and cost overruns.
  11. Prepare and submit routine and ad hoc progress and completion reports, as specified.
  12. Represent the Division/Team on projects and other company initiatives, as assigned.


Job Requirements Qualifications & Experience

  1. Technical diploma or higher in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Associate Professional Certification or higher in Project Management.
  3. Certification in Sustainable Development would be an asset.
  4. Three (3) years’ relevant experience in the construction industry, preferably with exposure to Social Policy or working with distressed urban communities.


Knowledge & Skills

  1. Working knowledge of the principles, techniques, and contemporary practices related to construction, project management, conflict management.
  2. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, spatial plans, maps, and GIS outputs.
  3. Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite, MS Project, or other project management software.
  4. Knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements for construction, environmental management, OSH, and procurement.
  5. Strong organization and time-management skills.
  6. Understanding of the East Port of Spain community and culture.
  7. Excellent aptitude for agile, critical thinking problem-solving, and analysis.
  8. Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  9. Ability to make technical presentations.
  10. Ability to use emotional intelligence to self-manage and influence positive outcomes.
