Office Gems is facilitating the recruitment of SEAMSTRESSES and UPHOLSTERERS for the Belgroves Group of Companies, SAN FERNANDO Branch.

Both the Seamstress and Upholster will be generally accountable for sewing all fabric inserts, casket and coffin accessories and other funeral accessories at the prescribed standard of performance. The duties of these positions leave a lasting impression on the final product of caskets.

Main Duties - Seamstress and Upholsterer:

1. Perform quality checks on all fabrics and other raw materials prior to starting work on them to ensure that they are at the required standard of performance, and re-purpose fabric that do not meet the standards.
2. Sew interiors, accessories for caskets and coffins and other funeral accessories according to the production order and at the prescribed standard of performance.
3. Upholster caskets and coffins according to the work order and required standard of performance.
4. Install interiors into caskets according to the work order and required standard of performance.
5. Perform quality checks on all units and raw materials prior to starting work on them to ensure that they are at the required standard of performance and reject units that do not meet the standards. 
6. Install handles, inserts and other accessories according to the work order on all caskets and coffins. 
7. Maintain a minimum production level according to the production order. 
8. Ensure that all materials and supplies are used efficiently to achieve the goal of zero wastage. 
9. Inspect all work performed to ensure that they meet the required standard of performance prior to completion. 
10. Clean all tools, machinery and equipment used on a daily basis. 
11. Ensure all tools, machinery and equipment are in proper working order at all times, perform basic preventative maintenance and report any breakdowns to the Supervisor immediately. 
12. Complete all timesheets, documentation and other required paperwork as it relates to your job function. 
13. Support the development and maintenance of a team environment by performing other related duties.

Requirements for SEAMSTRESS:

1. Three (3) O’Level/CXC/CSEC subjects
2. Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
3. Certificate in Sewing
4. At least two (2) years of working experience as a Seamstress
5. Knowledge of sewing techniques
6. Alertness to operate machinery and equipment
7. Team player

Requirements for UPHOLSTERER:

1. Three (3) O’Level/CXC/CSEC subjects
2. Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
3. Certificate in Sewing
4. At least two (2) years of working experience as an Upholsterer
5. Knowledge of upholstery and sewing techniques
6. Alertness to operate machinery and equipment
7. Team player

Working Hours:

7:00 am to 4:00 pm Mondays to Fridays, with extended hours and weekends only as needed.
