Business Analyst





Office Gems is facilitating the recruitment of a BUSINESS ANALYST for one of our clients based in ​PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD.


The Business Analyst will work closely with functional leaders and team members of the company’s Finance Team to understand current workflows, identify inefficiencies, and map existing processes. The Analyst will develop redesigned or improved process flows, ensuring that any gaps, redundancies, or control weaknesses are addressed. This includes standardizing procedures, documenting clear handoffs, identifying automation opportunities, and ensuring alignment with best practices.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interview relevant stakeholders to gather information on existing workflows and pain points.

• Work closely with the stakeholders to identify their needs and ensure that process improvements align with the agreed business objectives.

• Conduct thorough analysis of existing business processes.

• Create comprehensive process maps for the agreed and assigned tasks within the department, including:

o Steps involved

o Roles and responsibilities

o Systems used

o Decision points

o Documentation and controls

• Conduct a gap analysis comparing current processes to best practices and organizational requirements. Gaps should include efficiency and system gaps 

• Develop redesigned or improved process workflows with clear task definitions and responsibilities.

• Introduce standardized templates, forms, or checklists as required.

• Ensure all new processes support efficiency, accountability, risk mitigation, and internal controls, and improve overall performance and productivity. 

• Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure process performance to ensure that improvements are sustained and identify opportunities for further improvement.

• Clarify role ownership and remove any overlapping or redundant responsibilities.

• Provide written recommendations to address issues such as:

o Control weaknesses

o Duplication of effort

o Unclear handoffs

o Manual or outdated steps

o Compliance risks 

• Present opportunities for automation, process improvement, and capacity enhancement 

• Develop a list of all the Procedure Manuals that would need to be developed. 

• Prepare and/or update Procedure Manuals as identified. 

• Assist in managing the change process to ensure smooth implementation of new processes and minimize disruption to the business.

• Provide support during rollout, including staff training, Q&A sessions, and implementation tracking of the new processes.

• Facilitate review sessions with Management, Finance Leads, and HR (where applicable).

• Incorporate revisions and obtain final approval for all redesigned processes. 

• Support governance and progress reporting updates. 

• Perform any other duties which may be assigned from time to time.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: 

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management Studies, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 

• Minimum of three to five (3 to 5) years of experience in process analysis, process improvement, or a related role.

• Finance and Accounting knowledge will be an asset 

• Strong sense of confidentiality and objectivity 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills 

• Proficiency in process mapping and analysis tools (e.g., Visio, Lucid chart)  Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a Team

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite [Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.]
