Loans Officer - CCCU





Office Gems is facilitating the recruitment of a LOANS OFFICER for the Community Care Credit Union, based on Curepe.


This is a permanent position.

The Loans Officer reports to the Operations Coordinator.

The main responsibilities of the Loans Officer include being able to interview, process and disburse Credit Union loan applications, and research and compile background information on loan applicants for credit approval. He/She must be able to answer lending questions from members and employees and perform a variety of support duties related to the lending function within the Credit Union.

The incumbent will be required to meet goals and targets set by Management.

DUTIES:
The duties of the Loans Officer include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Welcoming members and providing standard information regarding the Credit Union’s products and services.
  2. Executing transactions within the assigned authority limits. Interviewing Loan Applicants to obtain personal and financial data, and to assist in completing applications.
  3. Evaluating and verifying loan applications and credit criteria. Ensuring that lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant.
  4. Describing application review process and providing recommendations. Discussing key aspects of financing such as rates, terms, and payment amounts.
  5. Answering questions and advising customers regarding loans and transactions.
  6. Cross-selling Product and Services. Also, directing members to appropriate departments for specific information and service.
  7. Handling walk-in and telephone inquiries pertaining to lending.
  8. Monitoring loans for the first 120 days to ensure no delinquency on loan portfolio.
  9. Providing support to delinquency management activities and meeting collection calls targets.
  10. Placing liens on titles used as collateral for loans.
  11. Calling members where necessary to ensure standing orders in place, salary deductions and any delinquency issues are rectified.
  12. Working with all departments to ensure consistent delivery of quality service.
  13. Securing member/credit union information in accordance with Credit Union privacy and confidentiality policies and the data protection act of Trinidad and Tobago.
  14. Enrolling new members to the credit union as per policies and procedures, when necessary.
  15. Ensuring appropriate records/logs are maintained and required reports are prepared.
  16. Ensuring work area is neat and safe to ensure information remains confidential.
  17. Performing a variety of miscellaneous tasks including filing, document scanning, and answering the telephone.
  18. Assisting with daily department functions, when necessary, as assigned by Operations Co-Ordinator.


REQUIREMENTS:

  1. First degree in Finance, Management, or other equivalent professional qualification from a recognized, accredited institution.
  2. A Minimum of five (5) CSEC/CXC/’O’ Level passes, including Mathematics and English Language.
  3. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in loan underwriting and credit control in a financial institution.
  4. Strong Customer service and interpersonal skills.
  5. Must possess a significant level of trust and diplomacy, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
  6. Proficient with computers and working with MS Office, especially Excel.
  7. An understanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
  8. An understanding of, and the ability to follow the requirements of all compliance regulations, including but not limited to those of the FIU, AML/CFT and KYC as it specifically relates to the job functions.
  9. Must be able to work without direct supervision.
  10. Must be able to prioritize his/her time to meet deadlines and be flexible enough to work extra hours when needed.
